Just a little post to express my gratitude to Raquel, Bill and Matt @ Genesi for their kind and fast support after my brand new efika MX refused to power on when i received it. It was mollested by the customs and following Matt's instructions i was able to fix it. Genesi kept the option to send me a new efikamx in case it would be more serious.

I'm just impressed how fast i had an answer from Genesi regarding my issue, and the sincere help i had immediately.

Thanks to all of you !

The 1.5GHz G4 Mac Minis were only produced for about 4 months from September '05 - and sold only from the Apple Store, and so if you see one... it's a good deal to get it.

They're pretty rare though, they're part of the phase out from PPC to Intel (where there was no real Intel Mac Mini for a year, and nobody wanted a PPC one) and is quite indicative of the speed at which Apple ditched PPC to move to Intel (i.e. I don't think anyone but Steve knew until he announced it).

The Mac Mini has MPC7447A processor. I found interesting information on Frescale web page: "MPC7448 can be a pin-for-pin compatible drop-in replacement for MPC7447A" Can I realy replace this chip?

If you have a BGA soldering facility... and can rework the power supply on the board.
