Yesterday i read about the fit pc. http://www.fit-pc.com/new/fit-pc-slim-s ... tions.html / http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AMD_Geode#Geode_LX

Seems to be an low energy x86 platform from AMD.

How does this compare to the upcomming efika2?

Btw: what is the status on the efika2?

the only think i really like about that is the display resolution. but it fails to have dvi/hdmi. complete hdmi is prefered.

i dont get it..... why is decent audio and video output so hard.

i am still kinda interested in a small media computer.

Do you remember the AMD PIC?

This is just a rework of that design with the same processor and suchlike. The OLPC uses the same hardware.

The Geode is a cute little chip but performance really isn't it's goal. At 500MHz it's far below the current performance of the Efika, the benefit of most Geode platforms being that they have far more RAM than the Efika.

For a desktop PC, HDMI is absolutely useless. HDMI PC monitors are actually pretty rare. You'd be buying an HDTV "monitor" to get that functionality.

Consider the performance of the processor (lower than the 5200B) and you will not be finding much you can actually do on an HDMI monitor that makes HDMI worthwhile.
