We could probably hold a PowerDev Meeting in conjunction with the Event if the organizers are interested. Is Micheal Battilana involved? We can send him an email.

R&B :)

All hosts that participate in PowerDev Meetings get a stipend from Genesi, as well as support in the form of hardware. If desired we can even send representatives to the Event.

R&B :)

CRUX PPC Team 'll be there with the only Cjg 'cause he's directly involved in Linux porting of Sam440ep.

I hope to be in Empoli too but i can't yet say it... i'm a bit busy in this period and it isn't a Gnu/Linux or Power Architecture related event.

Uhm, I think CruxPPC guys would be good hosts for a PowerDev Meeting...

Kind regards,
Andrea

i'd like a lot to be there, but my contribution to the CRUX-PPC project became much more loose in the last year (but i will put more effort in the near future).

Anyway the main reason I won't go to PianetaAmiga is that in the same days the Italian "HackMeeting" (also called "HackIT") is happening in Palermo, and i definitely cannot miss it, furthermore i planned my holidays around it and i booked tickets for the travel months ago.
Too Bad... didn't the organizers watch the calendar of national/international events before choosing this date?

So have fun (it won't be hard as CjG and CRUX-PPC will be there)!
i will miss you :(

we'd like to host a Meeting in the next year.

I don't know about PowerDev Meeting but it seems an amiga user groups rendez-vouz...and we really don't care about amiga, amiga next generation and amiga like os.

It's not. We'd love you guys to do something. It just so happens that most of the most eager people for PowerPC processors tend to be those who want to run MorphOS on Genesi hardware (or Mac Mini..) so these are the guys who have done the meetings so far. Amiga/MorphOS groups seem to want to get together a lot!

We'd be perfectly happy for a Linux oriented meeting, and show other PowerPC boards (Sam440, Freescale stuff, even the "new" IBM G5 board) and do tutorials and little presentations and so on.

Actually not really, as already pointed out by Neko. Granted, MorphOS and Amiga people like to get togheter quite a lot... but the reason I suggested you as good hosts for a PowerDev meeting is that Genesi is supporting these small events sending prototypes and motherboards (MPC5121E and MPC8610 based) running Linux and some software like the new Flash player plugin for LinuxPPC, and you:
- have good knowledge of Linux, and therefore are the best choice for Linux on PPC related demos in Italy;
- should have some interest in new Power Architecture based hardware, considering the distro you are mantaining.
Adding that you are a bunch of nice chaps, this explains my previous comment, I guess.
Of course, in order to gather more interest, it is usual to pack the event with some MorphOS presentation, or to organize it at established events (SceneCon in Hungary, an Amiga meeting not much unlike Pianeta Amiga in Czech Republic and in Poland...), and this is the reason you saw so many MorphOS-related pictures at previous PowerDev meetings.

As a reference, check PowerDev #4 schedule:
http://powerdev.pegasosppc.cz/
It's equally divided in two parts, half hosted by Peter Czanik, a Linux guy you often meet around here, and the other more focused on MorphOS.

Kind regards,
Andrea
