quite a useless thread for most of you but i just wanted to say thanks to David Holm and the Gentoo team for making me fall in love with Linux.
Before I installed Gentoo i tried several distributions (debian, mandrake, redhat, unbuntu...) on different machines (PC, Mac, Pegasos) and never felt attracted by linux in any way.
Gentoo made me fall in love with Linux and now i'm about to become a serious Linux user. I learned more in installing Gentoo than trying all other distros and enjoying using it so much. I appreciated the fast and nice support I had from David Holm on my way to installing Gentoo on my Pegasos2. Thanks again man.

to all of you who are still looking for a linux distro for their PPC machine no more hesitation join the Gentoo side ;-)

If I only could install it.
The minimal CD doesn't seem to be doing anything.
Is Peg1 supported?

Yeah, thanks :)

My Peg2 has been working with Gentoo almost since I bought it. I boot MorphOS from time to time to watch videos using mplayer, since MorphOS beats Linux in graphics speed on my G3.

Thank you again ;)

Peg1 is supported by the 2004.3 release. Probably not the newer ones though since the boot image is stored in a subdir on the CD (which the Peg1 firmware cannot read from atm).

corpsicle: Gentoo is no problem is you read the Gentoo
Installation Handbook and go there and forums.gentoo.org
first when you have any problem. Gentoo is by far the
most well-documented distro out there. If it's not in
the book it's definately in the forum. I read there
every week when I something doesn't work the way I want
it. Last it was a few days ago when I had problems with
mounting SmartMedia cards in my reader.
I Search and 5 minutes later everything was fine.

I might add that the PPC Installation Handbook covers
a complete install on the Pegasos and other PPC plat-
forms. All Pegasos-specific things are there.

There is also the Gentoo Wiki site. When it is up, it is a great information resource.

And if all those resources haven't helped you out yet, feel free to drop by on irc in #gentoo-ppc on the freenode net. :)
