Finally I've got the Gentoo-Live-DVD
and I like what I see there ...
Is it somehow possible to get a disk
based version from the dvd ?

I ask because I've only a modem and
cant download big files ...

I confirm that I managed to install the LiveCD following Pieter's howto and David's help, it works with no problems. Pieter says he will include HDlnstall support to next release.

Hmm ... cant get it to work
If I understand it right you need
to be online for the emerge command.
But the only way to go online for
me is dialup ... and it seems pppd is
not installed/launched on the dvd ...
at least I cant get/configure a connection.

Any tips on this ?

When I skip the two emerge commands
in the guide I can boot but root
is mounted read only and fails
on many scripts (because the want to write to /tmp)
