Post subject: | Peg1: KDE wont start |
Hi. Iv started an installation of Debian Sarge. It works. Because of my early experiences I change the apt.conf, so e2fsprogs installed well without an error or break. So far, so good: The installation worked well and closed. I only choose the Desktop to install. But KDE wont start. First of it, X starts only with a creepy or black screen. I changed the xorg.conf, so it works now. I see an x-window with a shell, if I do "startx kde". But I got only this shell. KDE wont start. I recieved the following errors: Using config file /etc/X11/xorg.conf (WW) **** Invalid IO Allocation *** b:0xfe002000 e: 0xfe0020ff correcting (EE) end ofg block range 0xfdffffff < begin 0xfe000000 The XKeyboard keymap compiler (xkbcomp) reports: >Warning: Type "One_Level" has 1 levels, but <RALT> has 2 symbols Ignoring extra symbols Errors from xkbcomp are not fatal to the x server Warning: font renderer for ".pcf" already registered at priority 0 (followed by nine lines with changes only between the "") No absolute path found for shell: kde I have a Radeon 7500 and 256MB-Ram in a Peg1/G3@600 My kernel is 2.4.27. |

Hi! The xorg.log you wrote shouldn't be the prob! I have a similar output with a working displaymanager... Instead of "startx kde" you maybe should try "startx /path/to/startkde" Of course from a real terminal and not from the xterm within xorg! Not sure what /path/to/ is on debian, maybe simply /usr/bin or /usr/kde... Good luck so far Frostwork |
