When I run LSPCI in a terminal, my SCSI card (Symbios Logic) is detected, but I am not sure it is 'installed' automatically by Debian. When I run lsmod it does list a sym53c8xx module and I can see it as well under /proc/scsi. I dont know what I am doing wrong but when I run XSane I get the error "no device available". Am I missing something? Thanks in advance for any help! |

Hi, You should check the permissions of the device file /dev/sgx that is assigned to your scanner. Run as root the sane-find-scanner command (from the sane-utils package) and it should detect your scanner. Then run the same command as a normal user and if it doesn't detect your scanner, add the read permission for all to the /dev/sgx file. Friendly, Clement |
