Hi
i'm unable to get the via-rhine driver to work with the 2.6.12 kernel.. it works fine with my old 2.4.27 kernel but for some reason i just gets this message with a never kernel:

via-rhine: probe of 0000:00:08.0 failed with error -5

I'm thinking that the problem might be caused due to that my peg1 dont have a mac-address but it works just fine with the 2.4 kernel after i have addedd a line that looks like this -> "pre-up ifconfig eth0 hw ether 02:03:04:05:06:07" in the /etc/network/interfaces file.

The problem was caused by the missing MAC-addresss. i did a small change to the driver and now it loads just fine..but for some reason it runs in 10Mbit half-dublex mode. How do i force it to run in 100Mbit?

I thought that it could be changed with ifconfig but it's probably only in FreeBSD.

Try this for linux : http://www.scyld.com/ethercard_diag.html#mii-diag
