Post subject:  MicroSD card slot not working under Debian

Hi,

I experience problems with the microSD card slot of the smartbook under Debian.

Booting takes ages and every attempt to access the card causes the following in the syslog:
Code:
[ 216.948591] mmcblk0: retrying using single block read
[ 216.953711] mmcblk0: error -110 sending read/write command, response 0x0, card status 0x400b00
[ 216.962351] end_request: I/O error, dev mmcblk0, sector 63
[ 216.967902] mmcblk0: error -110 sending read/write command, response 0x0, card status 0x400b00
[ 216.977372] end_request: I/O error, dev mmcblk0, sector 64
[ 216.983120] mmcblk0: error -110 sending read/write command, response 0x0, card status 0x400b00
[ 216.991755] end_request: I/O error, dev mmcblk0, sector 65
[ 216.997303] mmcblk0: error -110 sending read/write command, response 0x0, card status 0x400b00

[ 217.020119] end_request: I/O error, dev mmcblk0, sector 67
[ 217.025679] mmcblk0: error -110 sending read/write command, response 0x0, card status 0x400b00
[ 217.034312] end_request: I/O error, dev mmcblk0, sector 68
[ 217.039863] mmcblk0: error -110 sending read/write command, response 0x0, card status 0x400b00
[ 217.048498] end_request: I/O error, dev mmcblk0, sector 69
[ 217.054056] mmcblk0: error -110 sending read/write command, response 0x0, card status 0x400b00
[ 217.063484] end_request: I/O error, dev mmcblk0, sector 70
[ 217.069134] mmcblk0: retrying using single block read
Under the preinstalled Ubuntu Maverik the card reader works as expected with the same card.

Debian is installed on a SD card, Ubuntu on the SSD drive.

Any ideas?

After some playing around, the effects, having the microSD card inserted during boot or inserting it after booting has finished, are numerous, but equally annoying.

At one time, after I inserted the card after boot, I received I/O errors, no matter, what file I tried to access, another time the system froze completely.

Any help is very much appreciated.

The MicroSD slot doesn't work with the standard Umbunto release either. I hear its a hardware problem,

As I wrote, it works with the preinstalled Ubuntu. Or which do you call the standard ubuntu release?

if you are using it from an OS that is booted from the SD card slot I doubt it will work at all. I was never able to make it work while something else was using the SD card slot. I was able to make it work some of the time if i was booted from the internal disk and had nothing inserted into the SD card slot at the time. I still suspect it is a hardware issue though.

Neko commented on this in the forums a good while back but I don't have a reference to the thread at the moment.
