Because of the limitations of the EFIKA I have decided to use it with as little installed as possible. This means only installing a 'Standard Installation' during the installer and no other options. This is where I hit my first snag... I did that and rebooted and it booted the Kernel ok, got itself going, but it stops at the 'returning from prom_init', which is usually where it drops from OF screenmode to the framebuffer mode. What'd I do wrong? When I installed a full install using the same kernel and modules it worked fine. Is there something missing I need to install/configure? |

False alarm on the not booting issue - I copied the wrong kernel file to the /boot folder. Now this system is working I intend to set it up as with Xorg and Windowmaker, for a really lightweight desktop, and use it as an IRC terminal and an XDMCP client. This will include remote access via SSH, and possibly later on web services supplied by a Ruby on Rails application (which among other things negates the need for Apache and MySQL). I'll keep you guys updated! |
