As you may know we are working with Power.org to develop the agenda for the first ever Power Architecture Developer Conference in 2007. We would like your thoughts on some of the individuals we are considering for the closing keynote address (listed in the poll). Please let me know who would get you and keep you in your seat on the final day of the conference and if there is someone else we should consider.

We appreciate your time, candor and opinion on this matter.

Although the mythbusters would provide some refreshing comedy for dev' con's (most have someone talking about how this year's will be the best ever) i'd prefer to have someone as sort of a mentor for PPC/PC development to start the convention.

I like the idea of the South park folks :-)

Others ideas :
- Linus B.Thorvald : Linux system inventor ?
- John Carmack and/or John Romero : Wolfenstein/Doom/Quake games inventors (Those games are available on Linux x86 but or on MacOSX PPC but not yet on Linux PPC)

Sic, I definitly need some sleep. I posted reply as a new thread by mistake. Sorry.

Anyway ...

I would vote for Jim Kahle a IBM Engineer. Jim works for IBM since the early 80's and he is responsible for RIOS I (Anyone remember that name ?) and for Cell CPU recently. Realy nice guest for first ever Power Architecture Developer Conference this year.

What do you think ?

2007? I thought the date was set for 5-7 dec 2006 in SF?

A roumor some year ago said that Linus Torvalds used a
PowerMac G5, but that was never acknowledged. But if he
has any interestets in Linux on Power I would definitely
want to listen to him.

Things change. We've taken down the conference page until there is a solid reason for a whole, full-featured site on the subject. Two quotes and an email link was just kind of hard to justify changing after every sub-comittee meeting.

http://www.builderau.com.au/program/wor ... 280,00.htm

He does have one, and he does run Linux on Power, and he does submit patches all on his own for it sometimes. Not just a rumor :)

@bbrv, Neko : Why not giving a PegasosII/ODW or a PegasosIII/OSW to Linus ?

I really like the idea of Linus using a PowerPC hw too :-D
