MythTV v0.20 is out since Sept 11.

The big news for French people (like me) is that MythTV can now support "Freebox" as recorder : it seems that you can plug in your Freebox (V4 or V5 ?) and make it like a video recorder card.
That's just great !

Note for others : Freebox is the name of the "box" used by the french ISP free.fr. This box provides internet access, a telephone line (VoIP) and television.

There is no ebuild yet... Too bad that I just installed ppc v0.19 on a fresh new system...

The article about the freebox is true. With the V4, you have the Internet, a TV and a free phone to 40 countries. It comes with a built in router and Wifi (you plug in a PCMCIA card into the freebox). It also has a multimedia browser that can display your computer files (music, videos, etc. on your TV screen, and you can also take control of your PC from the remote of your freebox. We have the V4.

The V5 is released with the difference being that it has a hard-disk that allows you to record your TV. The Wifi is built-in, so you do not need to add a card. we have not tried to use a HDD to setup our freebox as a webserver.

In 2007, freebox intends to propose the same services but under an fiber optic network. Internet should be much faster -- 50Mb to 100Mb (option).

We need an EFIKA doing all this!
