I have tried installing Niktarix and Debian using what is here and on other sites without luck. (For some of us there seems to be frustration that goes with learning PPC.)

The process on the web page below includes clearing a hard drive. I have used it configuring CF cards in a USB holder and when I put that CF card in an ATA adapter it is Knoppix on a hard drive.

http://www.knoppix.net/wiki/Bootable_USB_Key

The big advantage to this is that it happens in a familiar working environment. My new Efika recognizes the 4 partitions on one of those CF cards in an ata adapter, but not the file system.

This puts Knoppix on the cards:

syslinux -s /dev/sdz4

mount /dev/sdz4 /media/sdz4

rsync -av /cdrom/boot/isolinux/* .
mv isolinux.cfg syslinux.cfg
rm -f isolinux.bin
rsync -av /cdrom/* .
rm -rf ./boot

Is there an expert who could list the steps that I could follow to adapt this method and get Niktarix or Debian or something else onto the CF card? (Matt?) If I can get enough help to get it to work I will write a combined tutorial and post it here.

Thanks.
GPete
