Would it be safe to run a vga projector off a usb to vga adapter on a Genesi smartbook so we could demonstrate it to a group? Would there be problems with doing this? Thanks. |

I don't know why it wouldn't be safe to plug in a USB device and see if it works or not. that said I haven't tried it (I don't have any usb -> VGA adapters handy or I would have by now) and I would love to hear back on whether it worked or not.

I bought a Plugable usb 2.0 uga multi-display adapter with vga, dvi and hdmi connections, The Linux driver for this is in development so I have not yet been able to run it successfully on Bodhi Linux running on the Genesi Smartbook. However, I tried it on Kubuntu 12.04 beta 2 on my Asus eee and did get images on a vga monitor/projector. Bodhi Linux on the Genesi Smartbook should be working soon since there are upgrades coming to Bodhi in the near future. |

i don't have it but i guess a DisplayLink USB based device could work. It's already supported as fb with linux-3.2 and from linux-3.4 'll be a DRM module too. |
