I was browsing through my mailbox and spotted some news about the i.MX515 processor in a Freescale news letter: "Collaboration with top operating system and wireless component providers enables 3G connectivity and additional OS choices" "The Android platform: a comprehensive, open software stack that includes everything a manufacturer or operator needs to build a compelling mobile device" "Phoenix HyperSpace™: an easy-to-use, instant-on operating environment that enables extended battery life and smart network connectivity" "Xandros® customized Linux solutions: new, simple and compelling user experiences with integrated applications and an online digital marketplace, all designed to reduce time to market and costs for OEMs and carriers" "Wireless connectivity capabilities from Option, a leader in wireless broadband technology used by telecom operators and OEMs worldwide" "Wireless connectivity capabilities from Wavecom, a leading provider of embedded wireless technology for machine-to-machine communication" Also: "Availability Freescale’s netbook reference design is available now. The company currently is sampling the i.MX515 processor to tier one netbook customers. Volume production for the i.MX515 device is planned for Q2 2009 to power netbooks designed for the 2009 holiday shopping season. Support for 3G connectivity, as well as for the Android, Phoenix Technologies and Xandros operating systems, is expected to coincide with volume production of the i.MX515." |

Not to put too much of a downer on it but did you notice that all of the operating systems are Linux? :)I really hope we can expand on that in the Projects program. |

There's a project to port RISC OS to the Pandora, and I saw in a thread on that, a link to the i.MX515 project page here (as another possible Cortex-A8-based target...) so someone might come over here. Not that RISC OS is anywhere near mainstream, though... (or even heard of much, here in the US...) That said, there aren't really much other OSes that one would want to run, that run on ARM, are there? The *BSDs, and Windows CE... |

I did not say it was compareable with windows xp. I said it is an windows like os. So one can use the windows api to write applications for it. The windows reactos resembles most is somewhere between nt4 and windows2000 . On x86 reactos works nice enough. But as said on the reactos site it is still in alpha. |
