It's not yet available, has no case (or a standard form factor to easily get one), so EFIKA MX still has some advantages :-) |

Quote: And here is the next generation of Beagle Board. They added a faster CPU, and what is more important: Ethernet and USB ports. For more info, see:
very interesting. at first glance that mysterious DM3730 appears to be yet another member of the OMAP3 family, perhaps an upgrade to the 3530?

It will be available on June 7, cost only $180, and runs at 1GHz! 200MHz more than EFIKA MX. TI > Freescale. |

You have to consider that the Beagleboard is most likely a lot subsidized/discounted by TI for advertisement of their plattform. I think they make no profit with this board so of course it can be made a lot cheaper. The Efika MX is also shipped with internal WiFi + Antennas, internal 4GB Flash, two SD Card Slots and a nice case + internal Speaker. The Beagleboard does not even have the RTC Backup Battery soldered on board by default. Just to note the obvious differences that may make up the price difference ;-) |

Also, just read sth that I did not really like. The SD slot was replaced with a micro SD slot. Good luck finding fast and cheap microSD cards of a reasonable size. Having compared SD and flash performance on the efikamx directly, I can safely say that I prefer internal flash anytime...

Freescale also announced a quite capable ARM CPU: http://www.linuxfordevices.com/c/a/News ... le-iMX535/ or http://www.freescale.com/imx535 It has SATA (instead of just ATA), full HD (instead of 720), 2GB RAM size limit (instead of 512MB). I'm looking forward for an EFIKA MX utilizing it :-) |
