 Post subject: Sound with FC4

I just installed FC4 on my PowerbookG4. I love it install was flawless. The test sound plays beautifully, BUT i can get no sound from cd's. Could you please let me in on the secret. Also does anyone know if it is possible to get D-Link DWL-G122 Ver B1 working in this machine?

I had a sound problem with my powermac quicksilver G4.
The sound played only thru the builtin speaker and not a set of speakers plugged in the back.
found that the connand 'alsactrl ' needed to be run.

also have you tried the volume control preferences, experiment with the settings.

I believe the PowerBook doesn't have an analogue audio feed from its CD drive. You have to read it digitally and play it back, just as if you're ripping and then playing the CD.

I think at least xmms has a plugin which does that.

With respect to the D-Link DWL-G122 -- it's not likely to work well at the moment but the driver is being developed. See http://jbnote.free.fr/prism54usb/
