Post subject: Xgl on Ubuntu / Debian

OK, let's start a new thread for compiling xgl to Ubuntu and/or Debian.

As Xgl seems to work on Suse PPC (see http://www.ppczone.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=517),
I've downloaded the sources to make it work on Ubuntu for my Pegasos PPC.

So I've downloaded the sources here :
http://ftp.opensuse.org/pub/opensuse/di ... /suse/src/

Then, I got :
- compiz-0.0.5-2.src.rpm
- xgl-cvs_060223-3.src.rpm.

Then a little "rpm -i" on each of them, installed to /usr/src/rpm/SOURCES/ and created the following files :
-compat70.tar.bz2
-README.SUSE -Xserver-suse-sysconfig.diff
-glitz-0.5.4.tar.gz
-sysconfig.displaymanager.template
-Mesa-CVS-20060223.tar.bz2
-xorg-server-1.0.1.tar.bz2

So... I don't know much what to do but there is a x86 tutorial here that may help to build in the right order (at least) :
http://www.ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=136015

So I first tried to compile glitz (./configure, make, make install, ldconfig) and it when great.

But on xorg, "./configure" produces the following error :
Quote:
checking for LBXUTIL_TEST... checking for DRIPROTO... configure: error: Package requirements (xf86driproto) were not met:

Package xf86driproto was not found in the pkg-config search path.
Perhaps you should add the directory containing `xf86driproto.pc'
to the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable
No package 'xf86driproto' found

Consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if you
installed software in a non-standard prefix.

Alternatively, you may set the environment variables DRIPROTO_CFLAGS
and DRIPROTO_LIBS to avoid the need to call pkg-config.
See the pkg-config man page for more details.
I can do what is proposed up there, but is really what is to be done ?
And what is the diff SUSE file for ? Do I have to apply a patch (don't know how...) patch command maybe but what args ?

So... any hints ?
