Post subject: | Ubuntu 10.10 install on a Pegasos 2 ? |
Hi, I would like to install Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick Meerkat on my Pegasos 2, but it's more difficult as expected. I burned the ubuntu-10.10-alternate-powerpc.iso on a cd to try to boot a standard install from it, but it fails 1. boot cd0 install/pegasos I get a menu with 1. Install / 2. Expert / 3. Return to OF, but it is obsolete as there is no more 'install/powerpc/vmlinuz-chrp.initrd' file in the iso file. 2. boot cd0 install/powerpc/vmlinux initrd=install/powerpc/initrd.gz The install image loading starts, but I finally get a trashed graphical display with orange/red/brown squares (perharps the installer main menu). Crtl+Alt+Fn sequences doesn't allow to switch to another console display. I've also tried to add boot video option : video=radeonfb:1280x1024@60 or video=radeonfb:1024x768@60, but any case I get the same trashed display. 3. make a specific bootable install kernel :?: I've built the boot image, using kernel 2.6.35.4 compiled on my Pegasos, but I don't know how to make a boot image which would be able to automatically run the installer from the cdrom. Does anybody know how to configure a kernel or an image to make a bootable install image using the install cd ? Thanks for any help. |

I succeed to make a bootable install image from Ubuntu 10.10 Powerpc Alternate install cd, just using command described in this post : http://www.powerdeveloper.org/forums/vi ... php?t=1509 Now, I can start installation from cd, select all requested options and run the install on my partition. But the install process fails (i.e. stops) after 83%, just at the step installing 'linux-powerpc_2.6.35.22.16_powerpc.deb': Code: in-target: update-initramfs: Generating /boot/initrd.img-2.6.35-22-powerpc
In another console (alt+F2), I can run 'df' command without any problem. In drawer /target/boot, there is a 'initrd.img-2.6.35-22-powerpc.new' file but with 0 as size.
in-target: df: in-target: Warning: cannot read table of mounted file systems in-target: : No such file or directory in-target: |
