Post subject: | Macromedia's Flash Player for Ubuntu PPC ? |
Hi, I'm searching to watch videos on Youtube site with my Pegasos II under Ubuntu 6.10 and firefox. Unfortunatly, youtube tells me that : "Hello, you either have JavaScript turned off or an old version of Macromedia's Flash Player. Get the latest flash player." Javascript is turn ON, so the guilty is the flash player. This player is not able on macromedia Site for PPC. Is it possible to install it ? Thanks |

There's no official flash for PPC, i heard of several flash open-source alternatives (GPL flash for example ; http://sourceforge.net/projects/gplflash/) but it never really worked, maybe someone could tell us more about it ? |

There are no working Flashplayers for any other Linux platforms than x86 and AMD64. The only working Flashplayer is the official Adobe Flashplayer. All the opensource versions are too bad to actually work on the web. :/ |

There's gnash you could try (http://www.gnu.org/software/gnash/) & latest vlc is able to play some swfs too, though it doesn't work as browser-plugins currently imho |

Easiest way to watch youtube videos on linux/ppc right now is by using youtube-dl and VLC: http://www.arrakis.es/~rggi3/youtube-dl/ |

I use the Unplug Firefox extension which allows me to download YouTube and Google videos, and watch them with MPlayer. http://unplug.mozdev.org/ |
