There are some rumors about the new cell quad-core processor for embededd, it will run on psp2... http://areacellphone.com/2010/05/psp2-u ... fuel-cell/ If this rumor it's true mean that the power architecture will have a TDP near the ARM architecture and with a power quad core I think will be the fastet processor for mobile devices!!!! I can image fast notebook or smartbook or netbook with power architecture... and abviously with gnu/linux! I'm waiting this moment... |

As you can read the PowerEN processor is a realityhttp://www.pcworld.com/article/206792/s ... ng_3d.html If you go more deep: http://www.power.org/events/2010_ISSCC/ you can read: > A2 Core, full 64 bit based on Power Architecture® technology and support Power ISA 2.06 > 2.3GHz 45nm SOI with 16 cores and 64 Threads > Low power, highly scalable design - 25-75W chip at full frequency that are TDP good for powerfull notebook. (25W configuration) |

PowerEN aka WSP "Wire-Speed-Processor" w/o AltiVec ... PPC476FP "could" be with AltiVec, IIRC. A POWER CPU in a desktop or notebook, I won’t believe it till I see it. I don't get IBMs and FScales business model anyway. They sell CPUs withou a chance to code for it ... |
