My personal favorite is from the second concept round:
as this way the lower part of they screen could change from an English to a Hungarian layout keyboard (which I use rarely, and then have to check from another keyboard, where the different accent marks are...), or to an icon based user interface, or preview of images or book pages shown on the main screen.

Its not written anywhere there, but the chip powering these are obviously the iMX515 and the upcoming iMX535 ( http://www.freescale.com/webapp/sps/sit ... de=i.MX535 )

Wow, I agree, really interesting concepts there...! :-)

What I hope it would have is some kind of haptic feedback (like on an Evo 4G - press an icon or key and the phone rumbles) or tactile feedback (Blackberry Storm 2 - the screen depresses) otherwise more than chickenpeck typing on an onscreen keyboard can get fairly frustrating (not knowing for a split second if the keypress took, because any visual highlight or popup on the key is underneath your finger..)

Best of all, I did not have to help, as if movies are played back from a NAS or local HDD, then there is no need to switch DVD discs. Also, the JVC remote has 50+ small buttons (40 of these never used...), while this design has only a few large buttons, what even a kid can learn.

you haven't seen a 2-year old with an ipod/ipad, have you? : ) those little devils can navigate touch interfaces before they can speak intelligibly.

Well, I don't have any Apple products around me :-) But even the one year old knows which buttons to push on the washing machine or CD player. So a simple, large button interface should definitely work for this age group.
