Post subject: | Problems with mOLK |
I'm new, so... Hello everyone I have problem with MOLK. When i'm try to start program (boot /pci/ide/... molk), program runs and popup with problem that /user/local/sbin/pcimodules and /user/local/bin/bash are not found. I haven't any of these files. Problem occurs with running both from SFS partition (disk@0,0:0) and FFS partition (disk@0,1:0). Please, anybody help! |

Hi, solo Kazuki & welcome to the Pegasos-community The files molk searches for are within the mol-data file which you should have. To let the molk-kernel know on which partition mol-data lies you'll have to adjust the kernel-parameter "molkhd=" (best look into the molk-menu and you know what i mean. Simply add your FFS-partition (copy mol-data there of course before ) to the kernelparameter f.e. molkhd=hdb1 (in case the file lies on 1st partition of your 2nd hd. For some unknown reason squash-filesystems (mol-data is a squash) can't be mounted from a SFS partition so you'll have to use your FFS (or a ext2/3). If your 1st hd on 1st drive would be FFS formated you wouldn't have to set molkhd as it defaults to hda1 internally ... good luck so far frostwork |

ok... i'm running molk with boot /pci/ide/disk@0,1:0 molk molkhd=hdb1 classic but i have only turquise screen - nothing more. What's wrong now? |

No idea why your screen is turquise but who cares. Attacing only molkhd=hdb1 classic isn't enough. All the other parameters which you can see have to be attached, too. Btw Classic with capital C. Better modify an entry in molk-menu instead type the whole bootline in OF. hdb1 was just an example, no idea if your partition is there, too. btw did you read the included "readme-molk"? It might help too |

ok... i made simple boot script and put it to my first (MOS boot + system) partition... But MOLK still has a problems. I put hd partition for MacOS with -force and 1st CD with -boot, but... QUOTA No bootable disk was found nvram, write_image: open Read-only file system Terminating threads... DONE Kernel panic - not syncing: Attempt to kill init END I put OS9.2.2 CD to 1st CD. Do I need some kind of Mac ROM (as on ShapeShifter on classic)? Please, help! |

Did you set the "--cdboot" option in /mol/script/start-misc9 ? Make sure in general that when setting the "Classic" bootflag start-misc9 & molrc.macos are used so these have to be edited (not start-misc & molrc.osx)... Yes a MacROM is needed, but it should be read directly from your OS-9.2.2 disc, so this isn't the problem. |

Where to set this --cdboot? i put line in start-misc9 just before sleep 5 (...) --bootcd (empty line, as was in comment) sleep 5 (...) doesn't work... |

In line 11 after startmol is the right place. It should like this then: /bin/bash /usr/local/bin/startmol --cdboot good luck! |

Ok... IT RUNS! ...but i have no sound, at all. Of course I give in Sound prefs (under MacOS) MOL Audio. I have SoundBlaster Live! sound card Also CD disks are not usable. I've already patched CD Driver for MacOS with patch added to MOL Install. problem is that i have v1.4.8 (not 1.4.7) of CD driver. Is that problem? |

The audio setup is very minimal. Per default the internal ac97 chip is loaded as soundcard (for some strange reason my C-Media soundcard works without any modifications too with molk). You'll have a chance that your SoundBlaster Live works with mol when you add modprobe snd-emu10k1 in start-misc9 before the "alsactl restore" line. (not sure if snd-emu10k1 is enough as I don't have a SB-live) The readme-molk really can help sometimes! |

Still have no sound. And what's with this CD/DVD problem? And i was reading readme-molk file many times - it's not written anything about sound config. Honestly it's almost nothing in this readme... |

Well... if I abuse you then I'm VERY sorry. I don't mean that. Of course i'm very grateful for any help, but it's still not working as should work, IMHO. So... PLEASE, HELP! I cannot pay You (because i haven't too much money), but if it's something what i can help, I'll be always at Your service. So, don't be mad on me, and sorry once again! |

ok, forgot it... As you can't see s.th. about sound in the readme (I wrote a SOUND chapter) & your cd drive doesn't work I wonder which molk version you use? should be 0.7 ! Regarding SoundBlaster I can't help you. I'm sure there are many SoundBlaster guys arround, maybe one of them knows which modules have to be loaded to get the card working for molk. I'm afraid ill then you'll have to use the internal ac97 chip for audio... >problem is that i have v1.4.8 (not 1.4.7) of CD >driver. Is that problem? Maybe yes(?) Isn't the drive detected at all or where is the problem exactly? How did you install the OS? If everything fails you maybe should post your boot-parameter molrc.macos start-misc9 Or alternatively send them to me via PM... |
