I have now used Molk to start my MacOS X on my Pegasos. It was a easy and quick solution, the only problem is Sound and RAM. I installed the MacOnLinux sound drivers but can't get any sound out of Alsa or Oss??? The other thing is when MacOs is booted there is only 96 MB RAM left why? Is 512 MB Ram low mem if im running MacOS X? Plz, Help! XzIt of Apathy |

Hi XzIt! >I installed the MacOnLinux sound drivers but can't get any sound out of >Alsa or Oss??? ATM only the onboard AC97 chip is supported. But this may change in possible updates. Please use ALSA (so don't touch sound-settings ). You'll have to define the RAM in the macosx.rc file. It defaults to 96 MB. You can (if you have one) activate your swap partition in the /mol/scripts/start-misc script and give your OSX even more than 512 MB... Good luck so far! frostwork |

Thanks Frost =) I have already set up my swap partition, but i can use the same swap as Debian uses???? So in the sound config file i need to replace "any" with "Alsa" ??? I would recomend all Pegasos users 2 use MOLK when using MacOS X XzIt Of Apathy |

Hi! Yes you can use your "debian"-swap with every linux-system on your peg (i.e. you only need 1 swap) You usually shouldn't have to change anything in the sound-config: should work to simply use the (sound) defaults from the molk-package Maybe you forgot to set the sound in the OSX-Settings to "mol-audio-driver". Only installing the drivers isn't enough... Thanks for recommending molk, but it's only good if people don't need networking under MOL cheers frostwork |

Hi! No idea what are the minimal requirements for a working network under linux, as I don't have a running network here (maybe soon). Any help is greatly appreciated! (wink (a qemu-kernel) only waits for a working network; it boots damn faaast X86-operating systems with the -loadvm option ) cheers frostwork |

The network is fine, but the sound... It sometimes works and sometimes not or stops working (iTunes radio, flash anims). Why? I am using MOLK 0.6 and (even re-)installed the drivers package. |

Frostwork I've experienced probs with itunes here as well.. audio has always been tricky with mol due to the amount of cpu resources to get the audio working.. are you using Alsa or OSS?? magnetic |

I use Alsa of course! The problemonlyseems to show up with the ac97-chip, so it's most likely really a cpu-resource prob... (maybe degrade the samplerate to 22050 could help...) I'll look at it closer when i start work on the upgrade... frostwork |

Frostwork Yes, the onboard sounds takes up alot of cpu resources in MOL. I Had a Soundblaster Live installed in the peg and took it out as I like the ac97 in mos better than the sb! Should I put it back in the Peg for MOL and does MOLK have support for EMU10k or do i have to ena ble it? tia magnetic |

Hi! Only non ac97 soundcard supported in molk is one using cmi-pci kernel-module (sorry really no idea what my soundcard is called... ). But I already considered to simply include every sound/pci card as module into next molk-version... (Not sure if every pci-card will be initialized automatically though, but my cmi-pci does & even does not have random dropouts in osx....) regards frostwork |

Hi Frostwork FYI alot of Pegasos users have Sound Blaster cards inside their pegs as there is MOS support for EMu10k chipset. I put my soundcard (SB LIve!) back in my Peg to use with MOL. Its important to offload sound from the onboard to a card if possible to reduce cpu usage. I can play mp3s nicely here with Itunes, but if I try to be productive, sound is crackly and buggy (due to super high cpu usage of MOL) So, I look forward to the next version of molk with support for PCI soundcards (Soundblaster esp) Thanks for the work as usual magnetic |
