More on EFIKA.

Now the kernel in Symobi can detect platform-specific parameters dynamically. In principle, the same Symobi-system can be run on different extension stages of Pegasos and EFIKA.

Hang in there. Image

EFIKA makes progress.

There are first successes in the power management of EFIKA. Now you can turn off and restart Symobi.

Stay tuned!

Important news!!!

You probably spotted the name Symobi in the last few posts. mnOS is the basis for Symobi and was enlarged by several services, programs and drivers. The core technology is still called mnOS, but the whole operating system was renamed Symobi.

We now created an own web presence for Symobi. Many screenshots and further information can be found at http://www.symobi.com. We are looking forward to your feedback on the website.

You can download a live demo of Symobi on Pegasos II. EFIKA will be one of our highlights on the SYSTEMS 2007 exposition in Munich. For this fair we are working on a nice life demo of Symobi on EFIKA, which will then also be made public on the website.

Hang in there!

thanks for the demo, the website lacks some documentation and project
perspective but it's great. Unfortunately the live cd didn't work on
my Pegasos2 G4, it boots then i got a black screen, no display. Maybe because i have a radeon 8500LE ? I may try later with a radeon
9250 that i got as spare.

I can't test, my OpenFirmware 1.1 can't perform video initialization (kernel.fth). I tried to boot kernel.map directly without video init, but I got screen full of colorful rectangles (ATI Radeon 8500LE). I hope there would be some OF update available soon (atleast old 1.2).

Hmm, on the download page there is this line:

"Precondition: OF version 2.3.5"

There is no such a thing, at least publicily available....

Yes, 2.3.5 is weird OF version. In the readme there is 1.2 OpenFirmware version mentioned (ODW ATI R9250)

Sorry for any confusion!

First of all, OF version 2.3.5 really is “weird” Image. We already changed it to be “OF version 1.2 (20040810112413) and ATI Radeon 9250” which is the correct precondition. The information in the readme file is correct.

We only got the Pegasos II hardware in this combination. Unfortunately, other combinations could not be tested, yet. The live demo currently available was created for the last Systems exposition. As already mentioned in this forum, Symobi on EFIKA can access arbitrary graphic cards. Symobi 1.4 will be presented on the SYSTEMS 2007 exposition and the new version will also be introduced on Pegasos II. Then you will find the new life demos on our website, too, as soon as available.

Hang in there! Image

when is the efika image available for public download?

The x86 image worked nicely in vmware.

Also where and when will info be available on how to develop applicatons for Symobi, e.g. what api's are/will be available?
