Konstantinos Margaritis is back next week from his stint in the Greek Army. The Greek Army made him a sergeant. We've promoted him to commander! markos as he is known the the debian crowd (and others) is going to pick up on the effort he started at freevec.org. Our objective is to press ahead on the virtues found in altivec as we do our best to convince IBM and Freescale that the altivec effort is worthwhile. We do have some good news in this regard:

The Electrical and Computer Engineering Department, Morgan State University just received a total of ten ODWs just to begin an curriculum effort around altivec. The machines were sponsored by IBM. This is good news and a vector in the right direction.

Welcome back Konstantinos! You are just in time. :D We have work for you to do!

R&B :)

It's good to be (almost) back! I got some days off to see my wife before sept 18th, where my final transfer happens. After that it's almost over and I'll be able to do -at last- some real work.

I've been trying to follow ppczone and other sites and keep up with things happening lately, and I have to say that everything seems to be moving along nicely! This is great news!

And thanks for the nice words, it feels good to know I'm still useful after all these months :-D

Regards and see you all soon!

Konstantinos/markos
