Hi all.
I've been installing Quake I, II and III on EFIKA yesterday. I needed some real world speed information, and Quake is quite ok for that :-)
Now, Quake I is no problem. Runs super smooth and fast. Quake III is also no problem. Although slower than Quake I, it is very playable even with all details and geometric detail on highest with Radeon 9250. The only 'problem' here is swap space, as I'm running EFIKA from NFS (no local storage).
Quake II however is more of a problem. I can run it very nicely with the software renderer. It's the GL renderer that is dead slow. (1-2 fps) even in 320x240 and lowest detail settings. I've tried several Quake two versions for Linux (including qudos and quake2-icculus) all with the same problem.
Furthermore, I have the same issue with Quake II on my laptop (Core Due with i945 chipset).
Any ideas?
Best regards,
Johan
