For those of us, who use our Pegasos Linux only: even if not officially supported, one does not have to use Amiga partition table, but can use a 'normal' PC MBR (the one, with a max. of 4 primary partitions, one of them can be extended, which can include countless logical partitions).
YaST knows PC MBR, and this is the only partition type, it can write. Up until now we were suggested to use already existing partitions (which just need to be formatted and mounted) or use parted to install SUSE Linux on Pegasos. If you are sure, that you don't need Amiga partition table, you can use the partitioner included in YaST. It's a LOT more easy this way.
What I suggest:
- do not install a boot manager (it does not work anyway
).- create a small (10+ MB) hda1 partition with ext2 or ext3 (this is what the OpenFirmware (OF) can read), and partition the rest to your liking with any available filesystem type.
- install everything
- when ready, use info http://www.opensuse.org/PPC:Boot_pegasos to create a boot kernel. Copy it to the partition on hda1 together with a 'menu' file, and modify it accordingly.
- enjoy!
OF does not see extended partitions, but it's not a problem, as the booted kernel is on hda1.
