What about a special corner for "newbies" ?
i noticed that i did not know about sudo's absence in Ubuntu because i had no time trying ubuntu which means it would have also been good for experienced users, developers or whatever to read it sometimes.

Ciao,
H.

P.S.: I also added a poll to see how you tink about it ! Maybee it is easier for Genesi to decide if or not if they have usable feedback on this

i don't think we need a newbie corner, let's be all together and help eachother, let's not split people into categories.

i did not mean to split anything. it could be a special area where there are links to topics important for beginners or links to god howtos written by the more experienced users or people like gunnar (who must be a very experienced "user" if we look at his version of 19XX). there could also be a special corner for howtos in which the very experienced users write, the experienced users read and comment, the moderators at the end publish and the new and less experienced ones benefit. It is not about splitting anyting because the topics would still be were they are now but there would be a point where new users could go. that was my intention behind the question.

not to split but to consolidate !

thanks,

H.

It does not have to be "tux" only or anything like this. There are enough linux related sites which do this job for years now. It is Linux on Pegasos what we are discussing here or isn't it ? It should be as "Linux-on-Pegasos" oriented as possible.
Of course it have been more than 10 years now since i started digging into linux and today i would not even know were to find good howto's for beginners.

Any suggestions, please ?

P.S.: Do not forget to Vote ! ! !

Hallo, Heinrich!

Linux-newbies don't write here very often their problems, I think that's the point which magnetic meant
with "afraid of tux" (correct me if i'm wrong :) ).

> let's not split people into categories.

I know you already replied to this, but this in fact
does not happen in any case.
Anyway it would be a good thing to have an additional
"newbie-questions" subject in the forums...
btw I think it should be "Linux-on-PPC" related in general as it's ppczone.org, not... ;)
This will give mac-ppc users a home too (till they
swap to pegasos...)

friendly,
frostwork

Wonderfull feedback !

322 people who want an OSW for 799,00$.

But 8 people who have something to say about atracting new users by helping them !

This is a number every comunity can be proud of.

Bye,
H.

P.S.: Project "Bellybutton" did not die because of the participation, that was wonderfull even bbrv offered to help, but because taking the burden does not mean being able to carry it.

Hi Heinrich, you are very motivated and we appreciate that!

People may have not answered the Poll, but as you can see when there is a problem there is no shortage of others happy to help. :D

We do like the way you think! Thanks.

Also, remember we made that Poll "sticky" and linked to it from other places. Your Poll only stayed visible as long as comments were being added.

Best regards,
R&B :)
