I have 3 distros, 2 are on my iBookG4 (Mac OS X and Ubuntu dapper) and the third is on my attached firewire drive (Kubuntu dapper). Everything works perfect, wifi, printers, sound etc... but the issue is I installed to the FW HD last and when the installer installed the bootloader it of course installed it on the firewire drive. The problem with that is if I unattach the FW HD to be mobile with my laptop, the system has lost it's bootloader, so the question is how do I move it back to the laptop HD where is was as a dual boot previous. By previous I mean, the bootloader was on the Ubuntu partition (hda4). Thanks in advance for helping me move the bootloader!

First thank you for responding but could you elaborate? When you say revert your yaboot.conf do you mean copy the FW distro boot info and add it to the yaboot.conf on the main HD? Where are you running ybin from, the install CD, from the main HD distro ? You see, I still want to have 3 options to boot from (2 on the main HD and 1 on the FW HD) I just don't want the system to look at the FW HD for it's boot options. Again thanks for your help.
------------------------------------------------
here is the yaboot.conf that is on the FW HD:

boot=/dev/sda2
device=/pci@f4000000/firewire@e/node@0030dd0010101d46/sbp-2@c000/disk@0:
partition=3
root=/dev/sda3
timeout=100
install=/usr/lib/yaboot/yaboot
magicboot=/usr/lib/yaboot/ofboot
enablecdboot
macosx=/dev/hda3

image=/boot/vmlinux
label=Linux
read-only
initrd=/boot/initrd.img
append="quiet splash"

image=/boot/vmlinux.old
label=old
read-only
initrd=/boot/initrd.img.old
append="quiet splash"

# This entry automatically added by the Ubuntu installer for an existing
# Linux installation on /dev/hda4.
image=/pci@f4000000/ata-6@d/disk@0:4,/boot/vmlinux
label=hda4-Linux
root=/pci@f4000000/ata-6@d/disk@0:4
append="root=/dev/hda4 ro quiet splash"
initrd=/pci@f4000000/ata-6@d/disk@0:4,/boot/initrd.img

Ok, I foraged ahead and I now have my bootloader back on my iBook's main HD with the 3 boot options that had been called (previously) from the FW HD. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

Sorry, I meant use the yaboot.conf from you internal hd, since it should have the correct device and boot lines.

device=/pci@f4000000/firewire@e/node@0030dd0010101d46/sbp-2@c000/disk@0:
sbp-2 aka fw disk ^^

the device string are generated by ofpath

my yaboot.conf (as example) is

boot=/dev/hda2
device=/pci@f4000000/ata-6@d/disk@0:
partition=3

You just need to change them and update

I think you'll be able now to merge the 2 yaboot.conf now.
