Here some ideas of mine in mindstorm

1) Try & Buy

Genesi will send you a complete Pegasos machine with both Linux and MorphOS installed on it, in a "Try and Buy" special offer of 40 days of free use at home. When using it in real silicon you can decide easily if to keep it or to send it back.

Just put 1/3 of the price of Pegasos in a Bail controlled by third parties umpires.

If you decide you don't want to purchase it, just return Pegasos back with all peripherals without damages and the bail will be send it back to you.

If you decide to keep it, then remaining costs will be payed in monthly rates.

If you put entire sum of Pegasos price in the Bail, then you will be awarded with 5% of bonus reduction on Pegasos price at expiration of your Try & Buy.

2) My Peggy is the Xzibit Star.

Pick your Pegasos and partecipate all computer club parties and events in your city or local region.

Genesi will send you half the price of exhibition fee you must pay to partecipate the shows.

Ask Genesi for gagets. They will send it some gadgets (hats, pins, T-shirts) to you to enhance the show.

Connect a mini-internet web-camera to demonstrate if people is really interestd or not to your booth.

Register you in a list, and let your Pegasos installation (linux or MorphOS) to be examined by experienced Pegasos people to avoid any abuse of pirate software, and to demonstrate that your installation is clean and could be shown free to public.

Also demonstrate your exhibition lead people to purchase at least 5 or 10 machines (20 is better) and Genesi will pay you also 50% of transport duties.

Genesi will help you on how to behave when in public.
And will train you on things to say and about Pegasos FAQ.

If you become experienced in exhibit your Pegasos then Genesi could decide to send you to big national congresses, Exhibition Shows or Meetings by paying you 50% of transport, and 50% of hotel expenses and whole (100%) exhibitions booth fees.

3) Tell a Friend

Show your Pegasos to friends. If they buy Pegasos machines thanks to your efforts, then your Level into Genesi orgainization as external member will be awarded.

If almost 5 users decide to buy a Pegasos machine, then you will be awareded by Genesi with price reductions on new Pegasi, or reductions on upgrade cards, or you colud be awarded with software bundled.

If your friends will declare that they decided due to your efforts, then they will be awarded with 3% reduction of their price.

You will be rewarded with 5% of Pegasos value.

They all sound like good ideas. Although I have an iMac G5 that I'm considering dual-booting with OS X and Xubuntu, I'm quite curious about the Genesi PPC workstations myself. :)

looks to be a start but the infrastructure would have to be in place before anything else.

Well, regarding "Try & Buy" all the needings are:

A site to handle the "Try & Buy" offer of Pegasos, just as Developers ODW offering site

E-mail addresses

Paypal account to pass the money from Genesi to Generic New Users and vice-versa

Good courier or postal service to handle movements of platforms

Not sure but I think this would cause a lot of problems. I see people taking it but not return it and not pay for it. If you have a "cheap" Peg people could buy it and always upgrade to a higher spec machine.
