I have installed Ekiga on my Smartbook, but have been unable to get video working. I have tried all video devices and all channels. Nothing seems to get the video working.

Any suggestions?

Hi Bradley,

Sadly, as far as I know, the support for GStreamer in Ekiga is currently limited to video/audio inputs and outputs only, not actual codecs. For video encoding/decoding to work properly on the Efika, you would need support of the VPU and that comes only in the form of GStreamer.

The media player Totem for example supports this, and hence has no problem with video playback. However the ARM CPU on the Efika by itself would not be able to do that.

The only way to do video conferencing on the Efika is with a two way video streaming set-up. You could also for example stream the video from your Netbook to x other people in a webcast fashion.

If you have anything in particular in mind, let me know and we can look for possible solutions.

Johan.
