I have a Dell U2410 which sports an optimal resolution of "1920 x 1200 at 60 Hz". When attached to a brand new Efika MX, the screen has a slow blinking icon of the HDMI plug in the top left, but nothing more. The display seems to be sensing a signal as it does not go into sleep mode as it is accustomed to doing when disconnected or the display source on another port is inactive.

I've tried (1) having the display on and then starting the Efika MX and (2) having the display off, starting the Efika MX and then turning the display on. Neither approach results in some sort of display.

I tried with two cords -- my 5' that I borrowed from my television and a 50' that I use for video feeds. I used the latter first and wondered if there might be a signal problem; however, when I attached a video camera in place of the Efika a good image from the camera displayed on the Dell screen thus removing the cable or connection as source of the problem. Nonetheless, I then used the 5' cable just in case there is some threshold the 50' cable did not meet. same result: no display.

Try to unplug the HDMI cable when the Efika is done booting and plug it back in.
If that doesn't work, we can try with a different kernel. Try creating and booting the ArmHF SD card image here:

I tried the unplug HDMI after start as suggested and no change. I tried several combinations of the screen on/off before and after boot with no difference.

So I tried the second suggestion.

I downloaded:

unzipped efika-armhf+3d-20110925.img.xz (using 7-zip) to directory efika-armhf+3d-20110925.img which had the same name image file therein.

unzipped win32diskimager-RELEASE-0.3-r27-binary.zip
ran Win32DiskImager.exe
selected efika-armhf+3d-20110925.img

placed the image on a Transcend 16GB card that had been formatted for DOS by selecting "write" in the Win32DiskImager. (Note: the card then became unreadable in Windows because it no longer was formatted, so do not expect to use a card where some file exist as they will no longer be available.)

Put the Transcend disk into the Efika MX and pushed the start button.

Took about 2-3 minutes to boot up, on my screen appeared a Graphical User Interface with a logon challenge dialog. To sign in, I used:

user: root
password: efika

After another minutes or two I was in a Gnome desktop. I kept being prompted by dialog box asking me for the default keyword password. Entering "efika" did nothing for it. So whoever reads this and knows the correct password to be entered for the "default keyword", please reply with the instructions.

Now that I have validated my unit works, I'm moving onto installing Gentoo.

Note: When in the Unbuntu environment, take the opportunity to obtain your MAC address with "ifconfig" in a terminal window, this will be helpful later on when you are trying to determine if your Efika has sought an IP from your domain host controller in your router, e.g. Sonicwall.
