It happened the second time today, the keyboard of my SmartBook would not work. Using a USB mouse, both times, I was able to select restart on the menu that comes up when the power switch is pressed (have not tried the touchpad to do this); fixing the problem without having to force power off.

Very odd. Anyone else see this?

I get this a lot on smartbook. 1 in 5 times the screen is dead or the keyboard is dead. It will then work without problems once it gets over these issues at boot. Since the new updates the backlight has also gone from working perfectly to not sleeping with a force dpms off. I rarely turn the smartbook off throughout a day so I really need the backlight to switch off. I have a custom XFCE script that modifies gnome power settings to set the backlight to zero on alt+f8 at present.

It is annoying but I think they do an amazing job for the size of the company. Hopefully it's not an issue that is a symptom of some bigger problem.

I've gone through hundreds of turn-ons and the keyboard was only dead twice. Display has always worked perfectly.

So far just a minor annoyance. At least I can clear it (so far) without forcing a power-off.

Had the same thing here (keyboard dead & issues w/ screen), works fine after reboot.
