I've already tried and tested a lots things. I would like also to mention briefly, partly because it brought a little success.

When tested with the kernel of March and May, I get an Image over the installing. But in a resolution of 1280x720 which brought a picture and devoured at the end of the installation, the toolbars on the desktop were hardly accessible.

With all of the following kernel versions I get a black screen over the installing.

The kernel of May, I then experimented with different boot parameters. And could then reach a appropriate resolution has been 1360x768 on the display.

However when I boot this kernel parameter to the latest carry on, nothing changes, the monitor remains black.

Also i tested the smarttop with the newest kernel on two other TV one is a 42 "Samsung and the other a 32" Sungoo. With both I get no decent picture.

The Samsung appears "unsupported format".

The Sungoo appears for a split second the desktop. Then the monitor switches to black. This is then repeated every second.

Even on my computer monitor I tested it. A Medion model. 20120, 23.6" HDMI connection. This is the only monitor with which I reach a satisfying result for me.

So, what should I do, to run the LED19 at a appropriate resolution. So i can get back to work and watch videos while I work? ;-)

Sorry for my bad (Google-)translated english. I hope you can understand it and of course you have a solution for me :-)

Hi HaPe, we will look into this, but in the office we use the Smarttop on a 47" Samsung HD television every day. It works. We have also made presentations in companies and at hotels in South America and Europe on large screen displays from many different manufacturers, including Sony, SEMP Toshiba and Vizio. It can be a minute before the image appears and other times you see the Genesi logo and the timing dots right away. It is clear in your situation things are not working. |We will see what we can do.

Best regards,
R&B :)

Hi, thanks for your response.

After some more try & error i found a crazy solution, and i think this must be a bug.

The only way to bring up the EfikaMX with the i-Joy TV is this:
Code:
1. TV on
2. Smarttop on
- i see the jumping / flashing label "no signal"
3. log in smarttop over ssh
and wait is the Windowmanager up
- so far so good
4. now i switch off the TV
5. stop the gdm "service gdm stop"
6. switch on the TV
- wait for the Welcome logo from the TV
7. start gdm "service gdm start"
- the Desktop is there with the resolution 1360x768@62Hz DVI
just now i can restart the gdm, change the resolution over xorg.conf an so on and all works.

But if i switch the TV off then i must stop the gdm too, and start the gdm again with the welcome logo on the TV.

Other Problem is, as you can see above it is in DVI Mode instead of HDMI. But my TV has no DVI. Only HDMI and VGA. The Cable is a straight HDMI Cable. And of course i have no sound over HDMI.

I have this tested with the Version 2.6.31.14.26-efikamx and 2.6.31.14.24-efikamx.and the Installation was made with my medion monitor. The Bootparameter i have added was siihdmi.useitmodes=0 siihdmi.seventwenty=0. Without this oder in combination with other Bootparameter the Hack doesnt work.

Here the Logs from the last Start:

Other Problem is, as you can see above it is in DVI Mode instead of HDMI. But my TV has no DVI. Only HDMI and VGA. The Cable is a straight HDMI Cable. And of course i have no sound over HDMI.
Code:
[ 2.167773] SIIHDMI: Device ID: 0xb0 (TPI revision 2.9)
[ 2.170584] SIIHDMI: hotplug: display attached, powered on
[ 2.216918] SIIHDMI: 15 modes parsed from CEA video data block
[ 2.216932] SIIHDMI: HDMI VSDB detected (basic audio supported)
[ 2.216943] SIIHDMI: HDMI port configuration: 2.0.0.0
Bets regards,

Okay. We don't need Xorg.log as it makes no difference. From the above I notice the TV says it supports basic audio which means there should absolutely be audio support, which means the sink is forced into HDMI mode rather than DVI mode (if there is no audio on the TV, which is really weird, we make the valid assumption that we shouldn't bother to send any HDMI information or use HDMI sink type since it causes more problems for TVs which internally are just DVI with an HDMI connector).

Since you're properly in HDMI mode this is weird.. but, try going into /etc/init/efikamx.conf and look for the line that "modprobe snd-spdif.ko" - there should be an if statement there and it needs to be modified to actually load the SPDIF driver;
Code:
if [ "xhdmi" = "x${audio}"]; then
modprobe snd-spdif
fi
Should be
Code:
if [ "xhdmi" = "x${audio}" ]; then
modprobe snd-spdif
fi
(note the space between the audio check and the square bracket. I introduced this innocent typo when I saved the file and built the package)

That should make audio work but I don't see any evidence that your monitor is in fact running in DVI mode from the driver's perspective. It's just a crappy UI error on your TV.

Hmmm, my /etc/init/efikamx.conf looks a bit different in this Section.
Code:
if [ "${board}" = "efikamx" ]; then
audio="none"
if [ -f /sys/class/graphics/fb0/phys-link/audio ]; then
audio=$(cat /sys/class/graphics/fb0/phys-link/audio)
fi
if [ -f /sys/class/graphics/fb0/audio ]; then
audio=$(cat /sys/class/graphics/fb0/audio)
fi
if [ "xhdmi" = "x${audio}" ]; then
if [ -f /lib/modules/`uname -r`/kernel/sound/arm/snd-spdif.ko ]; then
modprobe snd-spdif
fi
fi
fi
But i check the logic and copy this relevant piece in a script and run it with some echo Output.

this Line fill the var ${audio} with hdmi
Code:
if [ -f /sys/class/graphics/fb0/phys-link/audio ]; then
this Line do nothing because the checked file dont exists
Code:
if [ -f /sys/class/graphics/fb0/audio ]; then
But on the end the Sounddriver will loaded.
Code:
root@efika:/etc/init# lsmod | grep snd
snd_soc_imx_3stack_sgtl5000 8780 0
snd_soc_imx 6752 1 snd_soc_imx_3stack_sgtl5000
snd_soc_imx_ssi 6572 1 snd_soc_imx_3stack_sgtl5000
snd_spdif 16328 1
snd_soc_sgtl5000 14572 3 snd_soc_imx_3stack_sgtl5000
To the TV and display "DVI Mode". Okay maybe it can be. But i give this only a very small chance. Because,

i connect my WeTab (x86) with HDMI on the TV and it displays HDMI with Sound over HDMI
i connect my Mediaplayer (realtek) with HDMI on the TV and it is HDMI and Sound over HDMI
i checked it with older Kernel from Mai and it shows me HDMI with Sound over HDMI

Best Regards,
HaPe

Okay I have a sneaky feeling something's preventing us from going into HDMI mode, which may explain a lot.. that said, all the test monitors we have here all do SPDIF audio just fine, so it's esoteric.

Will debug it tomorrow and see if I can find a reason.
