This one is quite cool IMHO:

There is something appealing with Lego, there is something symbolic in small modules put together to create a new, bigger entity. Like the platform building around MorphOS! :-)

(Read more about it and see more pictures of it here)

Rather than blood, sweat and tears, these cases were put together with araldite, solder and hand tools. Yes, very old school but there you go.

That is a great collection Matthew! What advice do you have for others? Which case do you recommend?

Hello,

I have updated the efikaz site with assembly instructions. Some more pictures of the smallest case for Efika :) Only 106 x 56 x 175 mm!

(Copied from http://ausppc.blogspot.com/ with the kind permission of myself)

Of the enclosures I have, the easiest to work with, that still offers an element of style, is the Laser (google: laser 5.25 usb). This is because of the mounting bracket that's intended for those who want to install a hard drive into the enclosure. As you would expect, it fits perfectly but it can also be screwed into place internally - which turns out to be a very handy thing.

Image

These little fellows, or, to be more precise, these 6mm plastic stand-offs (Above) are still about 3mm too high for fitting an Efika plus graphics card inside most enclosures. The 6mm figure refers to how much clearance there will be between the PCB and the case it's being mounted into. Enter my pocket knife and a tube of araldite...

... and the rest of my tools and bit & pieces.

Hi Peter, thank you for reminding us. That is a great case developed by a solid contributor. We should have mentioned it.

@all interested.

If the EFIKA design documentation was 'open sourced' (meaning you would have everything you needed to produce it if you could acquire the components and a manufacturing facility), do you think others would produce the board or modifications to it?

We might start a new thread on this.

R&B :)

Here is a box that turns Efika into a low cost PBX :) with 4 analog(PSTN) lines, and PSTN failover
