Hello,

Few days ago I bought cheap 2x PS/2 interface. It works perfectly under MorphOS, Slackware 12.0, even under Vista, but it freezes under SmartFirmware after sending one or two key-codes. I've tested it with my Samsung R70 notebook and realized that it behaves very similar under notebook's BIOS (I guess that LILO utilizes keyboard-driving routines from BIOS), but without any key-code sent. SmartFirmware detects interface without any key-hints, it looks normal under device tree (mouse@0, keyboard@0). I've read about problems with keyboard initialization in Linux 2.4.x ... Maybe I should tweak efika.forth somehow ... ?

P.S.: Sorry for my bad English ...

I have the same issue with one of my usb->ps/2 interfaces. I figured out that the problem is caused by the mouse plugged into the interface which somehow causes the simple usb interface in OF to fry.

Just unplug the mouse and OF should work fine. At least it helped here.

Thank you for your reply, but this is not the case. With or without mouse it's all the same, even with keyboard connected to mouse connector.

STATUS UPDATE: Interface started to work with notebook's BIOS after flashing BIOS update. On Efika it's still the same.

Why don't you try using a keyboard with USB hub to which you could easily plug a mouse :)

I myself use an Apple Pro keyboard and up 'till now I am very satisfied.
Try this site as well

Good luck !

I've asked at PPA already, before I started this topic.

With HUBs its getting even more tricky, as not all of them are working in OF. Especially having an USB_ HUB inside a keyboard may cause a booby trap, as that hub may cause the keyboard to fail, too.
