No, it is not the latest firmware update. Bplan released an other firmware v1.2 update in october 2004. To get it people had to email GGS-Data who sended it to them. Actually I do not know how this firmware update is distributed. Ask Bplan or Genesi for that.

The official firmware release available for everyone is that
from August 2004. Pegasos'es and ODW's that were sold
in 2005 and 2006 came with a newer firmware from May
(I think) 2005. This firmware was never released for the
rest of us, only for buyers of Pegasos 2 and ODW.

The EFIKA got an even newer with support for USB-devices.

That's because it only had support for the board changes, nothing else. Not much more than a new HAL and a recompile.

There should not be any problem with users running the 1.1 firmware (as acrux is), so there is no point risking the flash process with anything else.

Yeah right, there are no problems with old firmware (even old 1.2 from 2004 has these), like randomly nonworking GBit ethernet controller (forgots MAC address on warm reboot, IIRC), nonworking USB keyboard support, and some USB cards randomly trashing innocent memory on init, and more... Only board changes, sure... Then why 2005 december build has most of these issues fixed silently? ... The fact is, that with OF 1.1, you cannot fully utilize the capabilities of your Pegasos. (I've two Pegs, one with 1.1, and one with 1.2 20051216, so i know what i'm talking about, thank you...)

It's no problem if there are no development resources to make a build, which surely works on all Peg2 boards ever released, and with all possible expansions the users might have. But please do not spread BS instead...

our one, owned by Giulivo, is:
Code:
firmware: Pegasos2 version 1.2 (20040810112413)
mobo: pegasos dual ppc rev. 2B3
cpucard: single 744x rev. 1.1

i agree with you, nevermind about the SmartFirmware(TM), but where is the problem to publish it if the latest update it's already available?

p.s.
Pegasos keyboard detection.patch

All of the problems you listed are eminently fixable in software, in Linux. Just nobody bothered to do it.

All those bugs are NOT silently fixed in future versions.

USB cards are still unstable! But they're useless in 1.2 firmware anyway - no devices can be mounted or used, it just initializes the card.

Set "usb-enable?" to "false" or you will have problems.

You can set the Gigabit MAC to whatever address you like, with ifconfig.

The only major change in 1.2 over the years were HAL updates, and support for a bug in the memory setup which needs a 2B5 board to work.

And a last note, firmware releases are bplan's department, and supposed to be handled by your reseller.

You should complain to them.. if you give them your MAC address and have a real problem they may give you an update.

This is entirely false. I have 1.2 firmware and have tested several USB2 cards with both MOS and Linux and they work fine. Some hang OF, but many work. Please do more fact checking before you respond like an authority on the subject.

Also, there are many bugfixes in later OF versions and you know this for fact. Dealing with memory especially.. and what ever happend to 1.3 release? Which was advertised on these very forums at one time?
