Hello,

I would like to power the EFIKA with a fanless 12V power supply. Of course I know that I can use DC-DC converter like picoPSU, but because the EFIKA need very few power, maybe it's possible to build a cheaper PSU. The big question is: does the efika need negatives voltages? If it doesn't, it very easy to provide 12V, 5V and 3.3V with simple regulators.
I saw this thread:

Great, I dont need PCI, then no -12V.
But what about -5V and -3.3V?

Thank you

Sylvain

There is no -3.3 V on ATX connector, only -5 and -12. The simplest way to get a fanless PSU is just removing (or disconnecting) the fan. Considering Efika loads PSU with no more than 20 W, a typical PSU can work safely without a fan running. For my two Efikas I've bought two recycled 110 W ATX PSU-s (5 euro each) and just removed most of the case and fan (photos: PSU complete, after fan removal, the label). One of them is powering a server Efika with current uptime of 147 days.
