Hello,

I'm trying to get the Optical Audio Output working. Getting sound out of the Efika was pretty straight forward: load the modules, unmute the "IEC958" device and set "IEC958 Playback AC97-SPSA" to "0". If I set the "IEC958 Playback AC97-SPSA" to a value anything else than "0" then I have no audio output at all (on the optical output that is).

Now the problem: There is noise in the output. Some sort of "jitter" or "high peaks". I don't know the correct periphrasis for this.. But you might know what I mean.

I'm not getting this noise on the headphones I connected temporally. This happens with "aplay some.wav", "ogg123 some.ogg" and "mpg321 some.mp3", so I'm pretty sure it's not the software, codec or the piece of music I'm listing to.

Anyone else has this problem?

i have not yet gotten to enabling sound on the efika. Can you provide some more detailen info on enabling it. I believe i read some instructions on it, but cannot remember where.

what distribution are you running? I'm only well-versed with gentoo ;-)
